With increasing temperatures, I always find myself needing a nice refreshment after a long run or workout. This lemonade recipe takes things a little further than just mixing everything together in a mixing bowl, but it sure is worth it. Sugar and salt will never settle at the bottom with this method.
This recipe requires you to make a simple syrup, which is just a mixture of dissolves sugar in water. To do this, we must boil the sugar and water together until all sugar is dissolved in the water. This will result in a cleaner taste, sugar won't be sticking in your teeth and won't be settling at the bottom of the bottle.
To turn this up a notch, serve with a slice of lemon, a mint leaf, and a salt-rimmed glass.
Recipe:
4 cups water
1/3 cup sugar
Juice of 4 large lemons
8 ice cubes
2-3 mint leaves
Pinch of salt
Lemon wedge (optional)
Start by boiling the water and sugar until no grains of sugar remain. The sugar should be completely dissolved.
Remove from heat and let cool.
Stir in lemon juice.
Add ice cubes and mint leaves. Let sit for at least 1 hour until mint has infused into lemonade and ice has melted.
Optionally, serve in a salt-rimmed glass with a mint lead and a lemon wedge.
Enjoy!
